India police recover stolen jewellery in Delhi Metro and Dehradun thefts

Police in New Delhi's Metro system recovered gold jewellery worth about ₹20 lakh and ₹60,000 in cash after a commuter left a bag on a train on June 28. Using CCTV footage from more than 25 stations, investigators tracked and arrested suspect Arti of Ghaziabad, who led them to the stolen items.

In Dehradun, police arrested domestic worker Vimala Devi after an Instagram reel posted by her showed jewellery matching pieces reported missing a year earlier. The recovered valuables, estimated at ₹10 lakh, included diamond‑studded rings, a gold chain and a necklace. Devi confessed to the theft and the items were returned to the homeowner.
