India Post adds Rakhi Mail discount and 24‑hour Speed Post guarantee

India Post has issued a Functional Requirements Specification to automate a 10% discount on Inland Speed Post documents booked as "Rakhi Mail" during the Raksha Bandhan season. The new option in the retail booking system will apply the discount automatically, enforce eligibility limits (such as a maximum of five Rakhi Mail items per transaction), and generate audit‑trail reports for monitoring.

Effective August 1, 2026, the postal service also launched 24‑hour and 48‑hour guaranteed Speed Post delivery between six major Indian cities—Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Documents and parcels are now clearly defined, and customers receive real‑time tracking, OTP‑secured delivery, and a full postage refund if the promised delivery window is missed. New weight‑based charges and GST are applied, and priority air transport is offered for the guaranteed service.
