India Post implements various fees for savings account services

The Indian post office implements various service fees for its savings accounts and small savings schemes. These charges are designed to cover the administrative costs of reissuing documents and maintaining services.

Specific fees include ₹10 for issuing a passbook to replace a lost or damaged certificate and ₹50 for a duplicate passbook. Obtaining a bank statement or deposit receipt incurs a charge of ₹20. Other service fees include ₹100 for account transfers, ₹100 for pledging an account, and ₹100 for issuing a checkbook. While the first 10 check leaves per year are free, a charge of ₹2 applies per leaf thereafter, and a ₹100 fee is levied if a check bounces. Notably, there is no fee for canceling or changing a nomination.
