India prepares for 2026 Pickleball World Cup in Vietnam

India is preparing to compete in the 2026 Pickleball World Cup, scheduled to take place in Da Nang, Vietnam, from August 30 to September 6. Chief coach Dhiren Patel expressed confidence in the team's readiness despite a significant increase in international competition, noting that approximately 70 to 80 countries are expected to participate.

Patel has set an ambitious long-term goal for the nation, stating that India should become one of the top five pickleball countries in the world within five years. He emphasized that achieving this status requires grassroots development, making the sport accessible in villages and small towns across the country.

India will field teams across five distinct categories: Open (Pro), 50+, 60+, Under-18, and Under-14. The squads will be led by five captains: Harsh Mehta (Pro), Nitin Kirtane (50+), Bhushan Akut (60+), Arjun Singh (Under-18), and Veer Shah (Under-14). The leadership group includes former international athletes from tennis and badminton, alongside rising junior talents.
