India promotes critical mineral self-reliance through mining roadshow

India is advancing efforts to achieve self-reliance in critical minerals to secure domestic industrial and clean energy supply chains. This initiative is supported by the National Critical Mineral Mission (NCMM), a seven-year program spanning 2024-25 to 2030-31, with a proposed expenditure of Rs 16,300 crore and expected investments of Rs 18,000 crore from stakeholders.

To facilitate this, the Union Ministry of Mines is hosting a roadshow in Nava Raipur to showcase the eighth tranche of critical and strategic mineral block auctions. The auction includes 20 mineral blocks across the country, consisting of 3 mining leases and 17 composite licenses. These blocks cover essential materials such as graphite, rare earth elements, gallium, titanium, molybdenum, and tungsten, which are vital for semiconductors, electric vehicles, defense equipment, and battery manufacturing.

The event aims to foster dialogue between government officials and industry leaders to address technical and operational aspects of mining. Additionally, the state of Chhattisgarh will launch dedicated portals for tin and mineral management, alongside signing agreements for specialized technical training.
