India protests erupt after child sexual assault cases in Mumbai and Odisha

A security guard was arrested in south Mumbai after allegedly sexually assaulting an eight‑year‑old girl in a public restroom, prompting hundreds of residents to gather outside the Pydhonie police station demanding exemplary punishment. Police deployed additional forces and dispersed the crowd, while local politicians called for swift implementation of the Shakti Act.

In Ganjam district, Odisha, an Ayush doctor was detained after a 14‑year‑old girl reported being raped during a medical examination at a private clinic. Police registered a case, began evidence collection, and announced a preliminary investigation. The incident sparked outrage among local residents, who demanded strict action against the accused.

Both incidents have intensified public concern over child safety and raised calls for stronger legal measures against sexual offences in India.
