India provides maritime support to Maldives Coast Guard
The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron, consisting of the INS Tir, INS Sujata, and the Indian Coast Guard ship ICGS Sarathi, has concluded a series of military engagements and training exercises in the Maldives.
During the visit to Malé, India handed over critical spare parts to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard to support the operational readiness of the vessel MCGS Huravee. This assistance follows an agreement made during President Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to India in October 2024, where New Delhi committed to refitting the Maldivian vessel at no cost to the Maldives.
The deployment included a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the MNDF Coast Guard and professional exchanges between senior naval officials. These activities are part of an ongoing long-range training deployment that also included a recent port call in the Seychelles.
