India quick commerce growth expected to accelerate

An Emkay report indicates that India’s quick commerce sector is poised for accelerated growth, with net order value (NOV) expected to rise by as much as 21.6 per cent quarter-on-quarter in Q2FY27. This acceleration is attributed to industry consolidation, higher minimum order values, and reduced discounts driving demand toward competitors.

In contrast, the food delivery segment is projected to maintain steady momentum, with an expected year-on-year growth of approximately 18 per cent in order value. Competition in the food delivery space is anticipated to intensify during the upcoming festive season.

The fintech sector is also expected to see steady revenue growth and improved profitability in Q2FY27 due to operating leverage. However, the report notes that payment companies may face impacts as festive spending shifts to the third quarter. Additionally, the implementation of a 0.4 per cent merchant discount rate (MDR) on UPI transactions, effective October 15, remains a critical factor for the sector.
