India reaffirms commitment to Austria during National Day celebrations
India’s Ministry of External Affairs Secretary (West) Sibi George attended Austria’s National Day celebrations as the Chief Guest, reaffirming New Delhi’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations. Both nations expressed intentions to expand cooperation across several sectors, including trade, investment, defence, technology, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges.
Bilateral trade between the two countries reached approximately USD 3.47 billion in 2025. The relationship has seen increased momentum following high-level engagements, such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Vienna in July 2024 and Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker’s visit to India in April 2026.
In conjunction with the celebrations, Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger is scheduled to conduct an official visit to India from October 27 to November 2. During this trip, she will hold talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi before participating in events in Jaipur.
