Karnataka receives ₹1,178 crore for SC post-matric scholarships
The Indian central government has released a total of ₹1,178.20 crore to beneficiaries in Karnataka under the Centrally Sponsored Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste (SC) students over the last three financial years.
Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale provided these details in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. The breakdown of the funds released includes ₹421.08 crore for 2023-24, ₹422.90 crore for 2024-25, and ₹334.22 crore for 2025-26.
Since 2021-22, the scheme has utilized the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode for implementation. The release of the central share is contingent upon state governments sharing verified payment data via the National Scholarship Portal. The program is demand-driven and open to eligible students in recognized institutions across the country.
