India reports violent kidnapping attempt and fatal assault

In Bengaluru, a high-speed car chase ensued after individuals allegedly attempted to forcibly abduct a 21-year-old woman, Pooja Melvas, from her home. Melvas had married 23-year-old Om Prakash approximately nine months ago, a union reportedly disapproved of by her family in Rajasthan. Police state that suspects from Rajasthan traveled to Bengaluru and forcibly took Melvas into a Hyundai Venue. During the escape, the driver lost control while Melvas cried for help, resulting in a collision with several two-wheelers. Six people were injured in the crash, and three suspects have been arrested, while police continue to search for the driver.

In a separate incident in Delhi, authorities have identified the victim of a brutal sexual assault and murder as a 17-year-old girl. The body was discovered in an agricultural field near Kushak Road in Swaroop Nagar. Following a forensic investigation and CCTV analysis, police identified four suspects, including three minors and an individual named Shivam, who were known to the victim. Investigators believe the group consumed alcohol together before the assault. Police have seized a tempo and clothing used during the crime as part of the ongoing investigation.
