India residential property prices rise 1.1% in Q1 2026-27
India's residential property prices saw a sequential increase of 1.1% in the first quarter of the 2026-27 financial year, according to the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) House Price Index (HPI). The All-India HPI reached 117.5 for the quarter, up from 116.2 in the previous quarter.
On an annual basis, house price growth moderated to 3.6%, matching the growth rate recorded in the same quarter of the previous year. This represents a slowdown from the 4.5% annual growth seen in the preceding quarter.
The upward movement was primarily driven by price increases in cities including Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram. Other cities contributing to the annual growth trends include Jaipur and Kanpur. The RBI compiles this index using transaction-level data from registration authorities, covering 18 major cities across the country.
