India lifts all commercial LPG restrictions, restores supplies to pre‑crisis levels
The Indian government has removed all sectoral restrictions on non‑domestic (commercial) packed LPG and has relaxed bulk LPG limits to 50 % of pre‑crisis consumption. The move restores commercial LPG supplies to the levels that existed before the West Asia conflict disrupted imports, and signals that domestic LPG production has improved and imported cargoes are expected.
Authorities cited the easing of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the projected arrival of LPG cargoes as reasons for the rollback. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas also announced a reduction in the diversion of C3‑C4 hydrocarbon streams, allowing these gases to return to petrochemical and other industrial uses while keeping domestic LPG output above 40,000 tonnes per day. The policy continues to protect household LPG supplies and encourages a shift to piped natural gas for commercial customers.
