India Schedules Major Power Outages in Chennai and Udaipur

On July 28, 2026, electricity supply in Chennai will be suspended for maintenance across numerous neighborhoods, including MCN Nagar, Velachery, and OMR, with service expected to resume by 2 p.m. the same day. The shutdown list covers the IT corridor, Ramapuram, Medavakkam, Valasaravakkam, Nolambur, Adambakkam, and Tambaram areas.

A day earlier, on July 27, 2026, more than 50 localities in Udaipur faced a scheduled power cut from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., interrupting electricity to neighborhoods such as Bhupalpura, Shastri Circle, Kajri Hotel, JK Hospital, and several residential colonies and schools. Both cities reported the outages are for routine maintenance and aim to restore supply promptly after completion.
