India school holidays scheduled for October 2026

Schools across various Indian states are expected to observe multiple holidays throughout October 2026 due to several religious and national observances. Key dates include Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, and various festivals such as Durga Puja, Maha Ashtami, Mahanavami, and Vijayadashami (Dussehra) occurring between October 17 and October 21.

Holiday schedules may vary by region and educational board. For instance, states like Madhya Pradesh and Telangana may observe consecutive holidays for Durga Puja, while Chhattisgarh may have a five-day break from October 17 to October 21. In Jharkhand, schools are scheduled to close on October 2 and during the Durga Puja period on October 19 and 20.

Parents and students are advised to consult specific school administrations, official academy calendars, or school diaries for exact dates, as holiday timings for CBSE, ICSE, and private schools can differ from state board schedules.
