India secures historic medals at Glasgow Commonwealth Games

India achieved several historic milestones at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Tejaswin Shankar secured India’s first-ever decathlon medal, earning a bronze with a score of 7976 points despite recovering from a patella tendon injury.

In athletics, Neeraj Chopra won silver in the javelin, while Yashvir Singh took bronze after a personal-best throw of 85.41 metres, marking a historic double podium for the nation. Gulveer Singh also distinguished himself as India’s only double athletics medallist, winning silver in the 10,000m and bronze in the 5,000m.

Other notable performances include Mirabai Chanu winning gold in the women’s 48kg weightlifting category, and Harsh Singh and Asmita Dey securing gold medals in judo. In para-athletics, Dilip Gavit won gold in the men’s 100m T47, and Sharmila Dhankar won gold in the women’s shot put F57.
