India Secures Six Medals at U17 World Wrestling Championships in Baku

Indian wrestlers captured a total of six medals at the 2026 U17 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. In the men's freestyle division, Aaryan earned a silver medal in the 48 kg category after a 0‑10 loss to Kazakhstan’s Bakdaulet Agabek. Prathamesh Suryakanth Patil won bronze in the 55 kg class, defeating USA’s Chase Karenbaur 8‑0, while Arush Rana took bronze in the heavyweight 110 kg division with a 9‑1 victory over Kazakhstan’s Sagyndyk Temirgaly.

India’s women’s wrestlers added four more podium finishes, including silver medals for Sandhya Vishnoi (46 kg) and Akshara (53 kg), and bronze medals for Kamna Babal (49 kg), Avanshika (61 kg), Taniya (69 kg), and Garima (73 kg). The championships continue through Sunday with remaining weight categories yet to be contested.
