India's Weightlifters Win Six Medals at Commonwealth Games 2026

Indian athletes secured six weightlifting medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Gyaneshwari Yadav took silver in the women’s 53 kg category with a 199 kg total (88 kg snatch, 111 kg clean‑and‑jerk). Bindyarani Devi Sorokhaibam earned bronze in the women’s 58 kg event, also totalling 199 kg (87 kg snatch, 112 kg clean‑and‑jerk). Valluri Ajaya Babu won silver in the men’s 79 kg class, setting a Games snatch record of 149 kg and finishing on 330 kg total. Mirabai Chanu captured gold in the women’s 48 kg division, while Rishikanta Singh and Raja Muthupandi added silvers in the men’s 60 kg and 65 kg categories respectively. The haul brought India’s weightlifting tally to six medals – one gold, three silvers and two bronzes – contributing to an overall Games count of ten medals and an eighth‑place finish in the national standings.
