India sees launch of new sovereign cloud platforms
New sovereign cloud platforms have been launched in India to provide regulated enterprises with localized, secure infrastructure. Siliconops.ai introduced siliconcloud.in, a platform built in partnership with Nutanix. Designed for sectors such as banking, financial services, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and government, the service focuses on data residency and regulatory compliance to ensure sensitive workloads remain under Indian jurisdiction.
Simultaneously, Island Computing launched a fully managed sovereign AI cloud. The platform aims to support startups, AI, and SaaS companies by offering rapid deployment, with the ability to create cloud environments in 90 seconds. The company claims its infrastructure is 30% more cost-effective than comparable AWS setups in Mumbai, providing businesses with greater visibility, auditability, and control over their data and applications.
