India sees spate of armed robberies on merchants in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan

In the village of Sukhi Pipariya in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh, six masked men restrained shopkeeper Vijay Jain and his family, bound their hands and feet, placed a gun on his head and stole about eight tolas of gold, jewellery and roughly ₹1 lakh in cash before fleeing. Police, including the district SP, arrived on the scene and have formed teams to track the suspects.

In Bharatpur, Rajasthan, three masked motorcyclists attempted to snatch a bag from shopkeeper Promod Mittal near Maruti Nandan College. When Mittal resisted, the assailants opened fire, wounding him in the back. He was taken to a district hospital for treatment. The incident prompted the district SP and additional police units to impose a district‑wide lockdown and launch a hunt for the attackers using CCTV footage.
