India selects robotics champions for Geneva global finale
Team Singularity and Ferrum Incubators have been named the Junior and Senior Champions of the ‘Robotics for Good Youth Challenge India 2026–2027’. The winners will represent India at the Global Grand Finale in Geneva, Switzerland, during the AI for Good Global Summit in June 2027.
Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), with support from the I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), the competition took place during the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026. The event featured 57 teams, including approximately 300 students and mentors from 14 Indian states.
Participants aged 10 to 18 developed autonomous robots designed to address public health emergency responses, aligning with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 regarding Good Health and Well-being. Tasks included medical triage, medical-kit distribution, sample extraction, and the construction of quarantine zones. The challenge emphasized inclusive access by utilizing free software and hardware to ensure participation was not limited by cost.
