India sends 54 shooters to ISSF World Championships in Doha
India will be represented by 54 shooters at the ISSF World Shooting Championships in Doha, Qatar, beginning November 1. The event serves as a critical qualification pathway for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, with 36 Olympic quotas at stake across 12 disciplines.
Leading the Indian contingent are two-time Olympic champion Manu Bhaker, who will compete in the women’s 10m air pistol and 25m pistol events, and Asian Games medalist Neeru Dhanda. The squad includes a mix of veteran Olympians and rising talents, such as world No. 1 Esha Singh in the women’s 25m pistol category, and Suraj Sharma, a recent double gold medalist at the Asian Shooting Championships.
Other notable participants include Paris 2024 bronze medalist Swapnil Kusale, who will compete in the non-Olympic men’s 50m rifle prone event, and several Asian Games medalists across rifle, pistol, and shotgun disciplines. While athletes can secure Olympic quotas for their nations, final selection for the Los Angeles games remains at the discretion of national federations.
