India sets record boxing gold tally at 2026 Commonwealth Games

India achieved a historic boxing performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, finishing at the top of the medal standings with seven gold and three silver medals. This tally broke the previous record of six gold medals held by England and Canada.

Priya Ghanghas secured gold in the women’s 60kg category after defeating Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh with a 4–1 score. Ghanghas, who previously won gold at the 2026 Asian Boxing Championships, rose through the ranks from her training beginnings in Haryana.

Other notable gold medalists include Arundhati Choudhary, who won the women’s 70kg title by defeating England’s Chantelle Reid via a 5-0 unanimous decision. Choudhary expressed that while the gold is a major achievement, her ultimate goal remains the Olympics. Jaismine Lamboria also contributed to the historic campaign, reflecting on the significant public response to the team's success.
