India showcases major infrastructure and aviation growth under Modi government

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said India has transformed over the past 12 years, adding over 8 lakh km of rural roads, electrifying 99.6 % of the broad‑gauge rail network and introducing 164 Vande Bharat trains. The number of operational airports rose from 74 to about 164, making India the world’s third‑largest domestic aviation market. Welfare schemes built more than 12 crore toilets, provided tap water to 16 crore rural households and brought millions into formal banking via Jan Dhan Yojana. The country is emerging as a manufacturing hub with new semiconductor plants and record defence production.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh highlighted a decade of development in the Udhampur‑Kathua‑Doda area, citing a new passport office, railway station, two Vande Bharat services, an upcoming airport, a medical college, a highway and a new two‑lane tunnel parallel to the Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee tunnel.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta noted the metro rail network now spans over 1,095 km across 26 cities and reiterated the growth of air connectivity under the UDAN scheme. She also praised Digital India initiatives and announced ex‑gratia payments for victims of recent fire and building‑collapse incidents.
