India strengthens security and counter-terrorism ties with Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan
India has engaged in high-level diplomatic discussions with Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to bolster bilateral relations, with a primary focus on counter-terrorism and regional security.
In New Delhi, the 10th meeting of the India-Uzbekistan Counter-Terrorism Joint Working Group was held. Officials discussed addressing threats from active terrorist organizations, preventing radicalization, curbing terrorism financing, and stopping the misuse of technology in terrorist activities. Both nations committed to enhancing cooperation through information sharing, capacity building, and strengthening multilateral engagement within frameworks such as the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
Concurrently, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited Azerbaijan, meeting with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku. The discussions centered on shared security challenges, cross-border terrorism, and the promotion of peace and prosperity. The two nations also agreed to deepen political consultations and expand cooperation in economic sectors, including trade, investment, connectivity, and energy.
