India Supreme Court Rejects Anticipatory Bail for Husband in Domestic Violence Case

The Supreme Court of India, in a bench comprising Justices Arvind Kumar and P.B. Varale, denied an anticipatory bail application filed by a husband accused of severely assaulting his wife while intoxicated. The judges described the alleged conduct as "like an animal" and upheld the Patna High Court’s earlier order that the accused should seek regular bail through normal legal channels.

The court stressed that no husband may treat his wife in such a manner and reiterated women’s right to live with dignity. It also highlighted the prevalence of domestic abuse linked to alcohol consumption, urging stronger protection and legal recourse for victims.
