India telecom sector prepares for 5G expansion and rapid traffic growth
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is preparing for the rollout of indigenous 5G services following the expansion of its 4G network across India. A senior official stated that the company is moving toward next-generation connectivity and has introduced customer-centric initiatives, such as the automated interface Vani, which allows subscribers to resolve connectivity issues using regional languages.
Separately, a report by KPMG in India projects that mobile network traffic in the country will grow at an annual rate of approximately 17 percent between 2025 and 2030. While traffic is expected to rise significantly, operator revenues are projected to grow at a slower rate of 2.7 percent annually. The report also notes that the telecom equipment market in India is expected to grow from $25 billion in FY25 to $50 billion by FY32.
