India to convert gas plant into major green ammonia facility
AM Green Ammonia (India) Private Limited is converting a natural gas-fuelled ammonia and urea plant into a renewable-powered facility in Kakinada, India. The project aims for an annual production capacity of approximately 1.1 million tonnes of green ammonia.
The initiative is supported by financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan, marking the first investment under the Action for Creating Energy Security for Long-term Resilience (ACCEL) program. This includes a $100 million loan from the Leading Asia’s Private Infrastructure Fund 2, which is financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
Everllence has secured its first commercial order for the project, supplying a PARSYN compressor package designed to handle the variable loads associated with renewable-powered hydrogen. The equipment is intended to serve the synthesis loop of the 1,500 tonnes per day facility, with delivery expected in late 2027 and commissioning scheduled for 2028. The plant has an offtake arrangement with Uniper.
