Cricket West Indies announces squads for India tour
Cricket West Indies has announced its squads for an upcoming eight-match white-ball tour of India, consisting of three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and five T20 Internationals (T20Is). The series is scheduled to take place from September 27 to October 18 across eight different Indian cities.
Shai Hope will captain both the ODI and T20I sides. The ODI squad features a core group from recent series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, including the return of John Campbell following a hamstring injury. Jewel Andrew has been included to replace Ackeem Auguste, who is recovering from surgery. Shimron Hetmyer will miss the ODI portion of the tour to recover from the Caribbean Premier League but is expected to join the squad for the T20I series.
In the T20I squad, Kamil Pooran has earned his maiden call-up following strong performances in the Caribbean Premier League. Other notable inclusions include the recall of Quentin Sampson and Keemo Paul, while veteran all-rounder Jason Holder has been rested. Head Coach Daren Sammy noted that the series serves as a vital platform to assess players and prepare for the 2027 and 2028 World Cups.
While the first two ODIs conclude the automatic qualification cycle for the ICC Men’s 50-Over World Cup, West Indies will participate in the qualification tournament early next year regardless of the series outcome.
