India to launch digital Livestock Insurance Portal for farmers

India's Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying is set to launch a new Livestock Insurance Portal. The digital platform, to be inaugurated by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, aims to streamline policy issuance, claim processing, monitoring, and reporting for animals insured under the department's scheme.

To improve accessibility, the web-based portal will be available in Hindi, English, and 11 regional languages. The initiative is designed to increase transparency and efficiency while providing better risk protection for livestock farmers. Under the current National Livestock Mission framework, small and marginal farmers pay 15 per cent of the insurance premium, with the central and state governments jointly funding the remaining 85 per cent.
