India to launch ‘One Day, One University’ youth outreach programme

The Indian government is planning to launch a nationwide outreach initiative titled ‘One Day, One University’. Under this programme, a Union minister will visit a different university each day to engage directly with students.

The initiative aims to create a two-way communication channel between the government and younger generations, specifically targeting Gen Z and Gen Alpha. During these visits, ministers are expected to listen to student concerns regarding education, curriculum, and other issues affecting young people. Additionally, the visits will serve as a platform to brief students on various central government welfare schemes and youth-focused programmes.

Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya are tasked with coordinating the visits and university engagements. The plan was reportedly discussed during a recent Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
