India to launch Special Campaign 6.0 to reduce pendency and e-waste
The Indian government is set to launch Special Campaign 6.0, running from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The initiative focuses on Swachhata (cleanliness), reducing administrative pendency, and improving the management of government records and office space.
A central priority of the month-long drive is the effective collection, segregation, and scientific disposal of electronic waste generated within government offices. The campaign aims to institutionalize cleanliness practices and ensure the time-bound disposal of pending references.
The campaign follows a three-phase execution plan. A preparatory phase, held from September 15 to September 30, focuses on identifying operational targets, such as pending references from Members of Parliament, state governments, and inter-ministerial communications. This phase also includes reviewing files, weeding records, and identifying scrap materials for disposal. The implementation phase will follow in October, where administrative units will execute field tasks and cleanliness activities.
