India transitioning to product-focused tech nation, says Scindia
Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that India is transitioning from a services-led technology nation to a product-focused one. This shift will be a central theme at the 10th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026.
Scheduled to take place from October 7 to October 10, the event is organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). The congress is expected to feature thousands of exhibitors and hundreds of companies showcasing new products and emerging technologies.
Scindia noted that India’s current telecom connectivity provides a foundation for exploring new technological frontiers, stating that the country possesses a “global comparative edge.” The 2026 edition of IMC is built upon four pillars: Srishti (innovation and digital infrastructure), Suraksha (secure and resilient ecosystems), Sashakt, and Samvardhan.
