India U20 football team beats Singapore 1-0 in Bengaluru friendly

The India U20 men's football team secured a 1-0 victory over Singapore in the second closed‑door friendly at the Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru on August 6. Sumit Sharma Brahmacharimayum scored the decisive goal in the fifth minute.

The win follows a 3-0 triumph over the same opponents three days earlier and is part of the Blue Colts' preparation for the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027 qualifiers in Uzbekistan. Head coach Mahesh Gawali has been finalising a 26‑player squad drawn from a 30‑player shortlist, with several players temporarily released for the Reliance Foundation Development League Japan tour.

India will face Syria, host Uzbekistan and Bangladesh in the qualifying tournament scheduled for late August and early September in Tashkent.
