India-UK Free Trade Agreement Triggers Aston Martin Price Cuts in India
The India‑United Kingdom free trade agreement, which came into force on 15 July, eliminated import duties on most British goods, including luxury automobiles. Under the pact, 99 % of tariff lines were cleared, opening the market for British carmakers.
Aston Martin announced a substantial reduction in the Indian showroom prices of its entire lineup. The flagship Vanquish super‑car now costs about 6.40 crore rupees, roughly 1.97 crore rupees cheaper than before. Other models such as the Vantage S, DB12 S and DBX S also saw cuts ranging from 22 to 62 lakh rupees. The company also introduced new convertible variants for the Indian market.
Indian officials highlighted the agreement’s broader scope, covering 30 chapters on government procurement, labour, environment, digital trade and services. While some analysts warn of a widening trade deficit, proponents argue that lower duties will increase competition, drive efficiency and boost consumer choice in the premium car segment.
