India promotes nuclear science and development cooperation at UN

At the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, an Indian parliamentary delegation led by MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo reaffirmed the nation's commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology. Highlighting India's role as ‘Vishwa Bandhu’ (Friend to the World), Singh Deo emphasized strengthening South-South cooperation through the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Regional Cooperative Agreement (RCA), for which India assumed chairmanship in May 2026.

Additionally, representatives from the Global South praised the impact of the Ninth Annual India-UN Development Partnership Fund. Delegates from nations including Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Tanzania, and Laos commended the fund for supporting sustainable socio-economic growth, specifically in education and local infrastructure. Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish noted that the fund, which India pledged $150 million toward in 2017, focuses on nationally-driven projects to meet the specific requirements of partner countries.
