US-India energy ties face scrutiny amid new Russian sanctions law
The United States and India are navigating diplomatic tensions following the enactment of the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026. The law grants President Donald Trump the authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries that continue significant purchases of Russian oil and gas, a provision that directly impacts major buyers like India and China.
