India urges developed nations to lead emission reductions
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has called on developed nations to take the lead in reducing global emissions. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that countries historically responsible for the majority of emissions should provide financial and technological support to developing nations to combat the climate crisis.
This statement follows comments from Nepal’s Foreign Minister regarding the need for justice and compensation following devastating floods in the Himalayan nation. The floods have resulted in at least 1,294 deaths and left 5,053 people missing. India has expressed solidarity with Nepal and is actively participating in rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts.
