India urges global accountability for PoJK rights violations

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has called for international accountability regarding alleged human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that recent protests and clashes during the 2026 Legislative Assembly elections were met with repression, including internet blackouts and the use of force, resulting in reports of over 90 deaths.

Separately, India reasserted that Arunachal Pradesh is an ‘inalienable and integral part of India,’ responding to claims by Beijing that India’s formal naming of 27 locations in the region is ‘null and void.’ Jaiswal emphasized that maintaining peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is essential, noting that the state of border affairs will influence broader bilateral relations with China.
