India-US trade deal nears completion with 90 percent of work finished
Negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement between India and the United States are nearing completion, with officials reporting that approximately 90 percent of the work is finished. A senior US State Department official stated that only a few final details remain to be resolved, noting that the deal could “unleash another level” of bilateral relations by addressing trade issues that have been a major challenge for decades.
India’s Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, also indicated that the pact is nearly finalized. He emphasized that India aims to secure competitive advantages in the American market to ensure the agreement provides the necessary benefits for implementation. The two nations had previously established an interim framework for the deal in February 2026, following adjustments necessitated by changes in US tariff policies.
