Indian states launch special voter enrolment and roll revision drives
Several Indian states are conducting special drives to revise electoral rolls and enrol new voters following directions from the Election Commission of India.
In Kerala, a statewide drive for enrolment and roll revision is scheduled from October 15 to 31. The initiative includes digital help desks and a “Campus to Booth” campaign starting November 2 to target young and first-time voters.
Tamil Nadu and Chennai are holding special registration camps at polling stations on October 10 and 11. In Tamil Nadu, the process aims to simplify inclusion and address concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. In Chennai, 4,079 polling stations will host camps to assist residents with enrolment and detail updates.
Maharashtra is also implementing measures to include eligible voters and remove ineligible names. These efforts include registration camps at colleges, house-to-house outreach, and special polling station camps on October 10 and 11 to assist those missed during previous verification visits.
