India sweeps T20I series against Afghanistan as Abhishek Sharma breaks records
India completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The final match was highlighted by Abhishek Sharma, who smashed the fastest T20I century by an Indian batter, reaching the milestone in just 30 balls and eclipsing Rohit Sharma’s previous record. Sharma finished with 108 runs off 34 balls.
Sanju Samson also reached a significant milestone during the series, becoming only the fifth Indian batsman to score 9,000 runs in T20 cricket. Samson’s performance in the second match, where he scored 57 off 22 balls, helped India secure an unassailable 2-0 lead before the final fixture.
On the bowling side, Jasprit Bumrah made history by becoming the first bowler to take at least 50 wickets in all three international formats on home soil in India. The series concluded with Indian captain Shreyas Iyer praising the team's performance and demonstrating sportsmanship by sharing the trophy presentation with Afghanistan captain Ibrahim Zadran.
