India vs Sri Lanka Test series: Key records for Indian players

The upcoming two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin on August 15, presents several significant statistical milestones for Indian players.

Shubman Gill is positioned to break multiple records. A century would make him the leading run-scorer in the current World Test Championship cycle, surpassing Joe Root. Additionally, if he scores two centuries, he will exceed Sachin Tendulkar's record for most centuries as an Indian Test captain. A 2-0 series victory would also see him surpass Bishan Singh Bedi for the most wins as an Indian captain.

Bowling milestones are also within reach for Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. Jadeja needs two wickets to reach 350 Test wickets, joining an elite group of Indian bowlers including Anil Kumble and Ravichandran Ashwin. He also aims to overtake Ishant Sharma in the list of Indian bowlers with the most wickets in series against Sri Lanka. Kuldeep Yadav requires just one wicket to achieve 250 international wickets in Asian conditions.
