India warns border stability will dictate ties with China

India’s Ministry of External Affairs has stated that the state of border affairs along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) will dictate the trajectory of bilateral relations with China. During a media briefing, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described border issues as “most serious” and emphasized that maintaining peace and tranquility in these areas is of “utmost importance.”

The remarks follow unconfirmed reports of increased Chinese activity in the Arunachal Pradesh region. India has rejected Beijing’s criticism regarding the formal naming of 27 geographical features in Arunachal Pradesh, asserting that the state is an “inalienable and integral” part of India.

Both nations recently engaged in diplomatic discussions through the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China border affairs. While both sides have agreed to use existing diplomatic and military channels to avoid miscalculations, India signaled that deeper engagement remains contingent upon stability along the disputed frontier.
