India weather: Heavy rain forecast for Karnataka and West Bengal

Heavy rainfall and weather shifts are expected across parts of India. In Karnataka, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy showers in Bengaluru, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and several other southern districts. These showers may be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching up to 50 kmph.

In West Bengal, weather patterns will influence the Durga Puja celebrations. The Alipore Meteorological Department predicts scattered light to moderate rain and thunderstorms across Kolkata and several South Bengal districts, including Howrah, Hooghly, and the 24 Parganas, from Panchami through Saptami. While gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph are expected, officials indicate that heavy rain is unlikely to disrupt the festivities significantly.

Conditions in West Bengal are expected to improve starting Sunday, with mostly dry weather forecasted from Ashtami through Dashami. North Bengal is expected to remain largely dry, though some hilly regions may see light rain during the early part of the festival.
