Vaibhav Suryavanshi becomes youngest Indian Asian Games gold medalist
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the youngest Indian to win an Asian Games gold medal at the age of 15 years, 6 months, and 6 days. He achieved this milestone as part of the Indian men’s cricket team’s victory over Pakistan in the T20 final at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
India secured the gold medal with a 19-run victory, posting 211/6 before restricting Pakistan to 192/6. Suryavanshi contributed 15 runs off nine balls, including two sixes, during the final. This victory marks India’s second successive Asian Games men’s cricket gold.
Following the tournament, the Indian team faces a demanding schedule, with 10 T20 matches planned over the next 26 days, including series against the West Indies and New Zealand. The rapid transition from the Asian Games in Japan to international fixtures will require significant workload management for the squad.
