India opened its Greco‑Roman campaign at the U23 Asian Championships in Da Nang, Vietnam, with five medals on day one. Suraj Singh earned silver in the 60 kg category, falling 0‑4 to Kazakhstan’s Aibek Aitbekov, while Sagar Singh secured silver in the 67 kg division after a 0‑9 technical superiority loss to Uzbekistan’s Aytjan Khalmakhanov. Bronze medals were captured by Kumar Sachin (77 kg), Rohit (97 kg) and Hardeaf (130 kg).
Wrestling Federation of India President Sanjay Singh said the performance showed “great determination and discipline” and reflected steady progress in Indian Greco‑Roman wrestling. The team had previously won three medals at the earlier U23/U17 Asian Championships in Vietnam and five medals at the senior 2026 Asian Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Indian wrestlers will continue competing the following day with Neeraj in the 55 kg qualifier and other medal hopefuls.
