India Wins Five Greco‑Roman Medals, Including Two Silvers, at U23 Asian Wrestling Championships in Vietnam

India's U23 Greco‑Roman wrestlers secured five medals on the opening day of the Asian Wrestling Championships held at the Tien Son Sport Center in Da Nang, Vietnam. Suraj Singh (60 kg) and Sagar Singh (67 kg) each earned silver medals after losing their finals to Kazakhstan’s Aibek Aitbekov and Uzbekistan’s Aytjan Khalmakhanov respectively. Bronze medals were claimed by Kumar Sachin (77 kg), Rohit (97 kg) and Hardeef (130 kg). Other Indian competitors, including Vinit (72 kg) and Amit Gope (82 kg), were eliminated by technical superiority.

Wrestling Federation of India President Sanjay Singh praised the “encouraging performance” and highlighted the steady progress of Indian Greco‑Roman wrestling at the continental level. He noted that India had previously won three U23 Greco‑Roman medals at the last Asian Championships in Vietnam and five medals at the senior 2026 Asian Championships in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, marking its best recent record. The Indian team will continue competing in the 55 kg, 63 kg and 87 kg categories the following day.
