India Wins Gold and Three Bronze Medals at 23rd International Linguistics Olympiad in Romania

The 23rd International Linguistics Olympiad was held in Bucharest, Romania from July 26 to August 2, 2026, drawing 65 teams from 46 countries. Team India secured a gold medal, three bronze medals and an honourable mention. The Indian Embassy in Romania congratulated the team on X, noting the achievement.

Romanian participants also performed strongly, earning six silver medals, one bronze medal and an honourable mention. The Romanian team, dubbed "Romania Doină," received an honourable mention as a "dream team" where all members win medals. The competition highlighted the close educational and diplomatic ties between India and Romania, underscored by President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit, trade talks, and the awarding of an honorary doctorate by the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.
