India wins record three boxing gold medals at Asian Games

India achieved its best-ever boxing performance at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, securing three gold medals. This feat surpasses the previous record of two golds set during the 2010 Guangzhou Games.

Lovlina Borgohain secured gold in the women’s 75kg category by defeating China’s Bao Ziyi with a 5-0 unanimous decision. Borgohain, who previously won silver at the 2022 Hangzhou Games, noted the victory was particularly meaningful as it coincided with her 29th birthday. She stated her sights are now set on improving her Tokyo 2020 bronze medal at the upcoming Olympics.

Parveen Hooda claimed gold following a close 3-2 split decision victory over Chen Nijen-chin. Ankush Panghal completed the trio of gold medalists by defeating Kim Min-seong in the men’s final. In total, the Indian boxing contingent concluded the competition with six medals: three gold and three bronze.
